Microsoft and 343 Industries announced today that the Halo universe’s further expansion will continue outside of the video game franchise over the next few months. Beginning this Friday, April 15th, Halo Waypoint will get a performance update, making things quicker to browse through. Once the update is made, your Halo: Reach service record, with detailed play history, will be viewable from Waypoint, as well as new challenges when logged in via your Xbox 360. Some of the updates will also apply to the Windows Phone 7 Waypoint application.
On April 23rd, a new Halo motion comic, called The Mona Lisa, will debut on Waypoint, featuring a retelling of a store from Halo Evolutions set shortly after the events of Halo: Combat Evolved. I won’t ruin the surprise, so if you’re interested in checking it out,it will be available via all Waypoint hubs. As if that wasn’t enough, Microsoft will be new Halo Avatar gear launching on Xbox Live tomorrow and 343 will be introducing new action figures at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con this July. And the announcement hinted that there will be a special celebration of Halo at this year’s PAX Prime in late August!
