In honour of the first day of fall, I’ve decided to examine the standouts from this past summer. Admittedly, this decision was not easy – I spent a lot of my time playing new games this summer, and there were certainly many that didn’t quite make the grade. However, as always, there were a couple of diamonds in the rough, but which one reigns supreme?
Game of the Summer: Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty
It breaks my heart to not be able to talk about Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game here, but let’s face the facts: Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty was worth the wait. The graphical improvements, the new single player campaign style, and the excellent new battle.net multiplayer interface made for boundless fun during those hot summer nights. It made me fuzzy inside to finally be able to customize and truly make the campaign my own with all of the RPG-style elements that were integrated within it. This game is one to enjoy for years to come – until the next installment is released!
Honourable Mentions: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, NHL 11, Halo: Reach
